The Microfunk Crew (made up of Bop, Despot and Oak) continue their forward-thinking, boundary-pushing vision by providing the next instalment in the Patchworx for Loopmasters series with an array of the Microfunk sounds including lush synths, funky basses and complete rhythmic grooves with intricate modulation and expression all as Massive patches ready to play.
In detail producers should expect to find here a great selection of patches which are designed to complement Minimal Drum & Bass, Ambient, Downtempo, Electronic Soul and Funk productions, but will of course work well for other styles also. The 67 Massive Patches included in this pack are comprised of 8 Bass Presets, 5 Drum Presets, 1 FX Preset, 8 Keys Presets, 2 Lead Presets, 22 Pad Presets, 5 Sequence Presets, 16 Synth Presets and 67 Midi Files.

Bop’s new track “Impermanence” is being released on the 5th March as part of the Med School “Blood Pressure” compilation. As well as Bop there are some awesome inclusions from Bulb, Unquote, Synkro, Blu Mar Ten and fellow Med School family Lung, Joe Syntax and Royalston.
Alongside drum + bass there are some exciting dubstep and 2-step additions, keeping the whole album fresh, just like you’d expect. We had a chat with the man himself about “Impermenence” and his thoughts on Blood Pressure:
What inspired you to make “Impermenance”? Is there any imagery or meaning behind it?
There is a Buddhist concept about impermanence that goes a bit like: “The only thing is permanent is impermanence”. Although I am an atheist, this idea seemed really interesting to me and I decided to try to realise this idea into piece of music. Each pattern of this tune is slightly different from each other to really emulate the sound of “Impermanence”.
What did you use to make the track?
Nothing outstanding, just software (FL Studio) and my ears!
What’s your favourite track from “Blood Pressure?”
My favorite tune is “Red Rhythm” because it’s just sick! Also Mutated Form’s tune “Feels Like” and Bulb + Clarity’s one [Her Smooth Love] sounds pretty lovely.
If somebody from Med School was to remix “Impermenance”, who would you like it to be?
I would love to see what Stray could do with the tune, because his remix of Helios that came out on Med School blew me away last year.
Bop has always been a couple of steps ahead in his quest to blend drum and bass with his own favourite sounds from minimal techno, ambient and microfunk.
Playing with deep, atmospheric sounds, Bop shows that drum and bass isn’t a one-dimensional genre but is actually rife with a new generation of listeners and producers all bringing their own sounds to the scene.
This podcast was made for Gardarika, an underground D+B label based in St. Petersburg.
